All characters are either bad, neutral or greedy, exploiting the Korean workers.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.japantimes.co.jp\/culture\/2017\/03\/04\/books\/book-reviews\/pachinko-author-min-jin-lee-japans-ethnic-koreans-keep-beating-odds\/\">Japan times Article\u00a0<\/a>, it is mentioned:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Lee never casts Japanese as villains. There is no resentment, only fraught, complex interaction.
