{"id":506,"date":"2009-03-27T08:18:09","date_gmt":"2009-03-27T15:18:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.telyas.com\/wordpress\/?p=506"},"modified":"2009-03-27T08:18:09","modified_gmt":"2009-03-27T15:18:09","slug":"oki-wimaxwifi-indoor-unit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.telyas.com\/wordpress\/2009\/03\/27\/oki-wimaxwifi-indoor-unit\/","title":{"rendered":"OKI WiMAX\/WiFi indoor unit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-465\" title=\"UQ Logo \" src=\"http:\/\/www.telyas.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/logo_uq1.jpg\" alt=\"UQ Logo \" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uqwimax.jp\/index.html\">UQ Communications<\/a> has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uqwimax.jp\/news_release\/200902261.html\">announced<\/a> they will use new devices, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uqwimax.jp\/service\/product\/UG01OK.html\">OKI USB device and WiFi combination.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sound like a good idea, carry a USB device around to access the Wireless Broadband network, and when you arrive at home, plug it into the router and provide Internet access to different devices over WiFi.<\/p>\n<p>What I don&#8217;t understand is:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Link Budget. OKI claims the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oki.com\/jp\/press\/2008\/09\/z08082.html\">USB device is capable of +23dbm,<\/a>which was also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wimaxforum.org\/productshowcase\/oki-br3001-subscriber-station\">certified by the WiMAX Forum <\/a>. I really doubt this USB device is capable of overcoming walls and windows to provide a reasonable experience.<\/li>\n<li>How come only Windows is supported for the USB device?
