{"id":728,"date":"2009-09-23T05:07:09","date_gmt":"2009-09-23T12:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.telyas.com\/wordpress\/?p=728"},"modified":"2009-09-23T05:07:09","modified_gmt":"2009-09-23T12:07:09","slug":"liars-poker-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.telyas.com\/wordpress\/2009\/09\/23\/liars-poker-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Liar&#039;s Poker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-731\" title=\"Liars Poker\" src=\"http:\/\/www.telyas.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/Liars-Poker.jpg\" alt=\"Liars Poker\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I am reading Liar&#8217;s Poker by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michael_Lewis_%28author%29\">Michael Lewis<\/a> for maybe the 4th time, and it is as interesting and funny as it was in the 1st time.<\/p>\n<p>What caught my eye this time is a review printed on the very first page:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Makes the bond-trading business look like a cross between <em>Animal House<\/em> and Greed Incorporated&#8230; Lewis recounts incidents that should make customers stuff their money in mattresses.&#8221; &#8211; <em>The Washington Post <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That was the 80&#8217;s, which I guess is enough time for the masses to get their money out of the mattresses and give it to the wrong people (again).<\/p>\n<p>As I am in Japan, I am having a problem which I have to figure out: What if you don&#8217;t have a mattress. As we sleep in the traditional Japanese way, futons over Tatami, it is impossible to hide the money there.
