10 Albums That Prove 1997 was one of uk rock’s best years

Interesting article from Pitchfork.

https://pitchfork.com/thepitch/1446-10-albums-that-prove-1997-was-one-of-uk-rocks-best-years/

As it happens, I was 26, and one of the years I invested a lot of my time and money to listening to music.

For me, the Chemical brothers and Radiohead are the top two and still shine after 20 years.

Also interesting is that I just noticed that Mogwai’s cover has “Fuji Bank” (Fuji Ginko) on it. The bank does not longer exist and this blog post tracks the location of the photo.

Albert Camus , Tuxedmoon , The Stranger

Definitely not a new song, but a song that accompanies me for many years.

One of the best books I have read (multiple times) and one of the best songs I know.

The song actually starts from bullying and being a stranger, with a clear reference to Albert Camus at the end.

MOTHER died today. Or, maybe, yesterday; I can’t be sure.

But then it cuts off to

At the funeral they expected me to cry
Well I didn’t

Trying to bring the conclusion or more “strangeness” into the song.

Shoegazing

Cannot even describe how excited I am with the new Slowdive album .

Loved Slowdive and Mojave3 and was even lucky enough to see Mojave3 live in London.

Trying to figure out their tour plans, but it seems they do not plan to visit Japan anytime soon.

Soko + Ninagawa Mika

Been following both Soko (musician) and Ninagawa Mika (Photographer) for a while, so you can guess how delighted I am that they met and work together.

Result will appear in Nero Magazine. Looking forward to it

Sebuhiroko live – Follow-up

Received an email from Blue note thanking me attending the concert.

Mail an website include wonderful photos which capture the vitality and energies.
(Maybe too much contrast in the photos, but still wonderful).

Now, can you find me in the crowd?

Sebuhiroko live

Went to Blue Note Tokyo last night For Sebuhiroko’s live, Album release tour.

and from her Instagram account:

As she said during the concert, difficult to call two shows a tour, but it is still called so by the production company.

I love the Blue Note, the crowd and I love Sebuhiroko. Not really the standard Blue Note music, she rocked in some songs, Alternative in others, Jazzy in some.  Explosion of music, passion on stage. It was great. It was obvious she is having wonderful time on stage and wished she could do it more.

Some songs from the Album were arranged differently, “Night Walk” changed from a loud rock sounds, to one guitar in slower rhythm.

Another that caught my attention is Zazen boys’ 本能寺 (Honno-ji) cover, which was excellent, Jazzy, Rocky, Cute, Loud .

Could find this cover on youtube from a concert last year,  the original Zazen Boys is here.

Amazon and iTunes MP3 prices

As I am interested in purchasing “Sleater Kinney” ‘s new album “No Cities to Love”, I checked Amazon Japan,  Amazon US and iTunes for prices.

Can’t understand why:

1. Japanese version has one additional song “The Fog and filthy Air”

2. Price is $7.99 in the US, while ¥1600 in Japan
(According to current currency rate, $7.99 should be ~¥950)

3. iTunes (Japan) is also ¥1600, but no additional song, just a booklet
